directionsOne in six Galveston residents are food insecure. When a family is going through a financial crisis or facing other obstacles, food is the first necessity they seek. Moody Methodist Church and Central Methodist Church work together to deliver the only evening food distribution in Galveston County. We serve over 300 families and provide fruit, vegetables, pasta, cereal, milk, cheese, and meat.
Galveston County Food Bank distribution is open on the third Monday of the month. In the case of bad weather, the event may be canceled and we will work to reschedule it the following Monday if possible.
We need between 30-40 volunteers each month to help package food, load cars, register families, and direct traffic. Volunteers as young as third grade can help. This is a wonderful way for families to volunteer together and help serve their neighbors. Students who need service hours for school are also encouraged to volunteer.
We use volunteers from all over Galveston.
We have two shifts: 3:00 pm - 5:45 pm and 5:45 pm - 8:00 pm You can sign up to volunteer for one shift or both below! We encourage our volunteers to dress appropriately for the weather since you will be standing outside during food distribution. Hats, sunglasses, and sunscreen are encouraged.
